If you want to sleep before midnight, don’t bother staying here. The camp has rules that between 10pm - 7:30am is to be completely quiet, but no one is there to enforce them so people just stay up drinking and yelling until as late as they like. For our stay it was after midnight every night. Add to that the cars, radios and drunks in the surrounding area and it’s a complete waste of hundreds of dollars.
We went home early and won’t ever be back.
Lovely place to stay. The Ladies in the Office were fantastic and friendly. It’s so nice to see smilely faces. We did have a problem with our electricity going off, but this was remedied within minutes of our phone call. Would recommend
Great spot right by the Mount. We stayed in an en-suite cabin. Small but new and very clean. Right by the beach. Your key tag gets you 50% off in the hot pools next door. Will stay again.
Friendly staff.
Extremely noisy boy racers at 10.30pm-1am in Friday Saturdays nights- how do locals stand this? Why aren’t the police doing their job and stopping them?
Hassle access into bathrooms and to go out/in road gates using fobs. Surely could update to license plate recognition? Also, I know times are tough for the locals, but if a couple came in illegally to have showers surely this wouldn’t break the camp budget? So we don’t have to use fobs?
Showers stalls are awkwardly small.
Disappointed by cleanliness in bathrooms. Walls of showers in main beach side ladies amenities block were slimy, those in port area were dirty, even right after cleaners had been in. Behind curtains. Curtains should be changed daily!
The (male) cleaners started cleaning the port area ladies bathroom at 7.30am, the busiest time. Completely inappropriate for male cleaners to go in to female bathrooms at this time. They did not call out from the doorway!! I personally told them to get out and come back at 11am, the check out time.
Path from port camping area down to beach side is dangerously small with sloping side. Could easily fall down from it onto the piles of discarded fencing etc, behind the office. Which is a real health and safety risk. Please can you fix this path so it’s safe ?
Awesome holiday park! So close to town and meters away from both the harbour and the beach. Customer service was outstanding and kitchen and bathrooms were clean, tidy and spacious! Great price too. Would definitely come and stay again
Tauranga council you should be ashamed of the service you are providing at this camp. The rules state no noise between 10pm and 7.30 pm
but they bring a street sweeping truck through at 7am . The boy racer noise is horrendous, why are you not talking to the police? Every morning the toilets and showers were closed between 7am and sometime after 8am. This is the exact time people need them. We're is your common sense!!! The bathrooms need to be cleaned twice a day ! Late morning and late afternoon. The men's toilets are disgusting by late afternoon .
This camping ground us not cheap, the Top10 charge much the same prices and they do a much better job at keeping things clean. Smarten up Tauranga you are embarrassing the rest of the country
We are leaving early. The boy racers, drunken locals and generally waiting for someone to kill themselves in their vehicle makes this whole place the worst camping experience. From 8pm-8am expect zero sleep as the boy racers will race up and down. Don’t bother calling the police as they are no where to be seen. There is a really rude Karen at the front desk who after saying “we have never stayed here before” thrust a map in our hands and looked at us weirdly until we left reception. So in conclusion, weird staff and no sleep.
The ladies toilets has these weird chux clothes that are usually used for cleaning purposes, but here they are used as a way to dry your hands? But there’s only like 4 of them for the whole camp, so by 8am those are soaked.
The availability, locations, and photos of the sites on their website are a bit deceptive, they don’t all have quite as perfect views as shown online. However, the overall location of the park, access to walking/hiking trails, the beach, restaurants, and shopping makes Mt Maunganui Beachside Holiday Park a great place to stop.
